I'm grateful that Mom had a day out today!
I picked Mom up and took her for a haircut and afterwards we went to lunch at the pizzeria. She looks great! Her arm is healing well and she gets stronger everyday.
We also went on a little drive before we went back to her apartment. Earlier this week, I had Googled Zen Garden in Long Island looking for the John P. Humes Japanese Stroll Garden, which I found out about from one of the photo meet-up groups I belong to. I didn't get to go to that meet-up and have been wanting to see this place ever since. Unfortunately, it is only open April-October... so, I have to wait a few months. Anyway, I stumbled on Little Japanese Zen Garden in Queens which happened to be located right in the neighborhood by Mom's. So, I didn't tell her where we were going and made it a little adventure. Turns out, the garden isn't there anymore, but instead of being disappointed we realized that it was all about the little drive we took on a sunny day. Mom was thrilled to be outside after 3 long weeks inside recuperating. Wise words to live by... the journey is the adventure, not the destination.
