the fastest iPhone in the east

Back in October, I signed up for the B&H Porfolio Development Series.  It is an eight month journey that offers the opportunity to exhibit my work in a show at the famed SoHo Photo Gallery here in NYC.  I'm looking forward to the program's events, classes, and assignments that I need to complete to qualify.  If I stick with it, at the end of the process, I will have a portfolio and my website updated...  and hopefully at least one of my photographs chosen by the judges to exhibit at the SoHo Photo Gallery.  I will also get to work with other photographers on the road also...  looking forward to the creativity.

I take photos everyday, usually with my iPhone... why?... because it's with me all the time.  The Canon DSLR and Canon point and shoot cannot be whipped out as quickly or are with me always.  I've also discovered that once you take out the big guns, people shy away or notice you...

I will be posting a photo a day, from my iPhone or Canon DSLR or Canon point-and-shoot...  On my Portfolio Development Journey, I've decided that it's time I start to carry my cameras everyday...  whereas the fastest iPhone in the east is going to get a shot, it isn't going to have the quality for photo gallery consideration...

I hope you enjoy the posts from my journey... stay tuned.

PizzaForChris

I'm grateful for pizza!

Yum.

Spent the day with Mom.  She is doing very well and continues to heal.  I brought a pizza and a salad for lunch.  We celebrated Chris's birthday... he turned 20 today... we were thinking of him knowing he is working hard at boot camp and we can't wait till we can really celebrate his birthday when he comes home on leave after graduation.  :D

GratitudeDesktop

I'm grateful to find gratitude reminders.

I've been feeling really down about my job and my work schedule.  I walked into Network Release, and a colleague has this desktop up on their screen.  Thank you for the reminder to stop thinking negative thoughts and to stop complaining.

I'm grateful for my family and friends whom I love very much and who love me.

Valentine's Day can be bittersweet... perhaps that is why there is a mass chocolate consumption frenzy on this day...

For the past 2 Valentine Days, I posted quotes from "Grey's Anatomy"... This year I'll share what I think is the most poignant song about romantic love...

"And So It Goes" by Billy Joel"

Lyrics:

In every heart there is a room
A sanctuary safe and strong
To heal the wounds from lovers past
Until a new one comes along

I spoke to you in cautious tones
You answered me with no pretense
And still I feel I said too much
My silence is my self defense

And every time I've held a rose
It seems I only felt the thorns
And so it goes, and so it goes
And so will you soon I suppose

But if my silence made you leave
Then that would be my worst mistake
So I will share this room with you
And you can have this heart to break

And this is why my eyes are closed
It's just as well for all I've seen
And so it goes, and so it goes
And you're the only one who knows

So I would choose to be with you
That's if the choice were mine to make
But you can make decisions too
And you can have this heart to break

And so it goes, and so it goes
And you're the only one who knows.

FlowerBouquet

I'm grateful I can see the beautiful juicy colors in flowers.

I went to Trader Joe's today to pick up some groceries and there were hundreds of bouquets of flowers ready for the Valentine's Day Rush!  There were all kinds and colors... I enjoyed looking at them, and I took a few pics of my favorites.  The photo above was the bouquet that called to me and  into the shopping cart it went.

What a nice evening, finally caught up on my grateful blog... enjoying the flowers and the company of Koda...  Life is good.
